Age: There is no age limit for Massage. It can even be done on infants, children, the elderly, and hospice patients.
Weight: Most Massage Therapists have a table rated for 500 lbs plus working weight, meaning you can be 500 lbs. And we can still apply our weight for pressure. If this is still a barrier, most tables can be put on the ground, the Therapist can use Thai mats, or Massage can be done from your favorite chair at home!
Scars: Your massage therapist practices confidentially and will not talk about your skin to others. You can also request certain areas to avoid. (Plus, Massage is good for scars 😊)
Past Trauma: Everything about your Massage should make you feel comfortable. Talk with your Therapist about areas to avoid and draping that is comfortable for you. Some modalities can be done completely clothed or with tools instead of hands. Some therapists even offer Reiki, which can be a completely hands-free form of natural healing.
Health Issues: Not all health issues are a contraindication for Massage. Always talk with your Therapist and disclose all medical information before your session. Most medical conditions can be accommodated with shorter sessions or avoiding a certain area and/or technique (always talk with your doctor)
Mobility: If you struggle with Mobility issues, then massage therapy may seem out of reach, but it’s not. Most offices are handicap-accessible, and Massage can be done in a wheelchair. Some therapists even offer in-home services so you can enjoy a massage without leaving your living room chair.
Please reach out if you have any questions or think you can’t enjoy Massage, I can point you in the right direction.
