Therapeutic Massage

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session begins with a brief health check-in and conversation about how you’re feeling that day. Together, you and your therapist will create a plan to help you get the most out of your time.

A therapeutic massage may include:

  • Light, calming touch with full-body relaxation techniques
  • Deeper pressure combined with focused work such as trigger point release
  • A session fully dedicated to one area when problem-focused work is needed

Your therapist may use a variety of modalities and, when appropriate, tools that best align with your comfort and goals. Pressure, pacing, and focus are always adjusted throughout the session to ensure a supportive and effective experience.

Therapeutic massage is our most popular service because it’s completely customizable — no two sessions are ever the same.

Understanding Therapeutic Massage

Many people are familiar with the terms Swedish massage and deep tissue massage, but there is often confusion about what they actually mean.

  • Swedish massage typically uses lighter, rhythmic strokes designed to promote relaxation.
  • Deep tissue massage refers to working deeper layers of muscle — not necessarily using heavy pressure. Deep work can be slow, intentional, and surprisingly gentle.

A common misconception is that deep tissue massage must be painful. In reality, effective therapeutic work is about precision, not force.

During a therapeutic massage, elements of both Swedish and deep tissue techniques are combined and adapted to your body. There is no set rhythm or formula. This flexibility allows your therapist to assess, adjust, and respond to what your body needs in real time.

Sometimes areas of tension are discovered during the session — that’s completely normal. Depending on time and your preferences, your therapist may continue working that area or suggest scheduling a future session to give it the focused attention it deserves.

This ability to adapt and change is what makes therapeutic massage so effective and unique.

Is Therapeutic Massage Right for You?

Therapeutic massage may be a good fit if you:

  • Value a calm, unhurried environment
  • Want a personalized, client-centered experience
  • Prefer thoughtful communication and adjustments throughout your session
  • Are looking for relaxation, tension relief, or focused bodywork

Session Length Recommendations

If you’re new to therapeutic massage, 60 minutes is a great place to start. As your body becomes familiar with the work, many clients choose to transition to 90-minute sessions to allow more time for both focused work and full-body relaxation.
